SHIZUE IMAI

Shizue Imai, originally from Japan, moved to the United States in 1989. Imai previously worked as a fashion stylist before changing direction to study ceramics at the Greenwich Pottery House in New York.

Using innovative clays and glazes, Imai draws from the concepts that she learned during her childhood in Japan; the best ceramics are unique works of art, crafted carefully by hand with the utmost attention to the nature of the medium.

Imai’s work applies her experiences in fashion to a humble material, in which she combines the cultures of the past with the living pulse of today.

All of Imai’s work is unique and handmade.
